Argentina's 2022 Census data by province, department and census tract, plus the profile of any area, from your AI assistant

INDEC's 2022 Census has the most complete picture of how many people live in each part of Argentina, in what conditions and with what level of education, but navigating its tables takes hours. With Argentina Data MCP, your AI assistant answers directly: the population of a department, the share of households with internet in a province, or how many people live within 1 km of an address.

It covers every level: province, department, fracción (census fraction) and radio censal (census tract). And for market research there is a tool built for exactly that: you give it an address and a radius, or a hand-drawn polygon, and it returns the profile of the area with demographics, socioeconomic level, housing, education, employment, connectivity and health coverage, compared with the department, the province and the country. In the City of Buenos Aires you can also ask for nearby points of interest: pharmacies, hospitals, schools, subway stations and more than twenty categories.

If you want to see a full analysis made with these tools, check the sample report 500m area snapshot around Av. Cabildo 2400 (in Spanish). And if you need to work with a custom area instead of a radius, there is the guide to polygon analysis (in Spanish).

What you can ask

  • How many people live within 1 km of Av. Rivadavia 5000, and how old are they?
  • What is the population like within 500 meters of Av. Cabildo 2400? I want to open a store there
  • What is the population of Córdoba by department according to the 2022 Census?
  • What percentage of households in Salta have internet according to the 2022 Census?
  • What is the education level of people aged 20 to 29 in Rosario?
  • What is the socioeconomic level around Av. Santa Fe 1500 compared with the rest of Buenos Aires City?
  • Which are the 3 closest pharmacies to Av. Rivadavia 5000?
  • How far are the nearest subway station, hospital and school from Av. Santa Fe 1500?

Which 2022 Census data you can ask for

The assistant has the census results precomputed at four levels, from largest to smallest: province, department (or comuna, or partido, the local equivalents), fracción (census fraction) and radio censal (census tract), the smallest unit, about the size of a few city blocks in urban areas. At each level you can query demographics (population by age and sex), housing (type, tenure, services), education, employment and connectivity. There are also cross-tabulations: education level by age, activity by sex, households with unmet basic needs, among others. If you don't know what is available, ask the assistant to list the census variables it can query: it tells you which ones are loaded and at what level, and which exist in the census but have not been imported yet.

Profile of an area for market research

This is the most requested query and the one that saves the most time. You give it an address and a radius in meters (or a drawn area, see the polygon guide (in Spanish)) and the assistant builds the profile: how many people live there, how they break down by age, what the socioeconomic level of the area is, how many are owners and how many renters, which education level predominates, how many are employed, how many have internet and health coverage. All compared with the department, the province and the country, so you know whether the area is above or below average.

In the City of Buenos Aires you can complete the analysis with points of interest: which pharmacies, hospitals, schools, subway stations or parks are closest, or how far the nearest one in each category is. It is useful for evaluating a store location, appraising a property or describing a neighborhood with data.

Honest limits

The census is from 2022: it describes the population at that moment, not today's, and it does not include income or prices. The socioeconomic level is an estimate built from census variables (education, housing, employment), not a direct measurement. When an address cannot be located precisely, the assistant tells you so instead of handing you the profile of the neighborhood center as if it were your corner. Points of interest cover the City of Buenos Aires (plus cultural venues nationwide); for other cities the area analysis works the same, but without the nearby places layer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get 2022 Census data by locality or by neighborhood?

Yes. You can ask by province, department, census fraction or census tract, or directly by an address and a radius in meters, which is the simplest way to describe a neighborhood or an area.

How many people live within 1 km of an address?

Ask exactly that, with the address and the radius. The assistant adds up the census tracts that fall inside that area and returns the total population, by age and sex, along with housing, education, employment and connectivity.

Is it useful for market research?

Yes, that is its main use. The area profile includes socioeconomic level, housing type and tenure, education, employment and connectivity, compared with the department, the province and the country. In Buenos Aires City you can complete it with nearby points of interest.

Do points of interest cover the whole country?

No. They cover the City of Buenos Aires in every category (pharmacies, hospitals, schools, subway, parks and more) and cultural venues nationwide. The rest of the area analysis works across the whole country.

Is it free?

The area profile by address and radius is in the Free plan, with 20 queries per day and no credit card. Data by province and department, cross-tabulations and points of interest are in beta and come with the Pro plan, which costs ARS 1,100 per month.
