What the lookup returns and what it does not

For each CUIT, the assistant shows you what the public registry reports:

• Registered name: first and last name, or company name. The registry stores it in a short field, so long company names may appear truncated; the answer warns you when that happens.
• Type of person: individual or legal entity.
• VAT status: responsable inscripto (VAT-registered), exempt, not subject.
• Income tax status.
• Monotributo: whether they are enrolled and in which category.

What the registry does not publish is a registration status. When the assistant says a CUIT is active or exempt, that is a reading of those three statuses, and the answer makes that clear. It also does not include address, declared activity or contact details, and you cannot search by DNI (national ID number): only by CUIT or by name.

How to look up a CUIT by name

The name search matches the beginning of the registered name as it appears in the registry, in uppercase and without accents. For a company, type the company name without the legal form ("Aerolíneas Argentinas" instead of "Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A."); the assistant normalizes it and returns the matches with their CUIT and their statuses. For a person, the order is surname then first name. If the name is very common you will get several results: add a second surname or another given name to narrow it down, or ask the assistant to show only those who are responsables inscriptos or those in the monotributo.

Privacy and registry coverage

The data you see comes from the public registry that ARCA publishes so anyone can verify the tax status of whoever invoices them or whoever they buy from. Argentina Data MCP serves it as is: it does not cross-reference it with other sources or add personal data that is not in that file.

On coverage: the registry includes individuals and companies with a current or past registration for income tax, VAT or monotributo. A CUIL (the ID number issued to employees) that only ever had salaried employment, with no independent activity, does not appear even though it is real and valid, and the same goes for retirees with no independent activity. If you search for someone and they do not show up, that is most likely the reason, not an error. If a CUIT was in the registry and is no longer there, the answer tells you since when.

Sources and update frequency

• ARCA (Argentina's tax agency, formerly AFIP): public taxpayer registry: official file with CUIT, registered name and status for income tax, VAT and monotributo.
• ARCA: official website where the registration certificate is downloaded.

The registry is reloaded every week from the public file ARCA publishes. Every answer states the date the data corresponds to.
